[10-19-2026] Contra Costa County, CA – Two Killed, Three Seriously Injured After Wrong-Way Crash in Concord

Two people were killed, and three others sustained major injuries in a suspected DUI wrong-way collision in Concord early Monday morning, October 19, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 1:50 a.m. on northbound Interstate 680, just south of the Willow Pass Road exit.

CHP said a black Lexus sedan traveling southbound in the northbound lanes collided head-on with a Chevrolet less than a minute after officers received the first wrong-way driving report.

A man and woman riding in the Lexus’s rear seats were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities were withheld pending investigation and notification of relatives.

The Lexus driver, a front-seat passenger, and the Chevrolet driver were hospitalized with major injuries. CHP arrested the Lexus driver on suspicion of felony DUI.

The investigation remains ongoing.
