One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash near State Route 76 and Via Monserate in San Diego County, early Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026.
According to a California Highway Patrol incident log, the collision was reported around 2:13 a.m. The log indicated that one vehicle was stopped at a stop sign when it was rear-ended, causing it to cross the roadway and into a ditch. Both vehicles ultimately came to rest in a ravine.
CHP reported that the vehicles were difficult to see from the roadway. The collision also damaged approximately 25 to 30 feet of chain-link fencing and a traffic light pole.
One person was transported to Palomar Medical Center. CHP later classified the collision as involving minor injuries.
The incident log listed the crash as DUI-related, although it did not indicate whether an arrest was made.
CHP continued investigating the collision until the incident was cleared around 6:26 a.m.
