A woman was killed, and a man sustained injuries in a crash west of Orcutt in Santa Barbara County, on Friday afternoon, August 28, 2026.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Santa Maria Fire Department, and California Highway Patrol responded to the 5000 block of Black Road.
Authorities said a white truck left the roadway and came to rest approximately 125 feet off Black Road in thick vegetation west of Highway 1.
An adult woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity pending notification of her family.
A man suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Additional information about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway was not immediately available.
The CHP continues to investigate the fatal crash.
