[08-28-2026] Fresno County, CA – Box Truck Driver Severely Injured in Highway 180 Crash Near Sanger.webpA 30-year-old box truck driver suffered severe injuries in a crash on Highway 180 near Sanger in Fresno County on Friday morning, August 28, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 6:45 a.m. near Oliver Avenue, just west of Sanger.

CHP said a pickup truck towing a trailer carrying a tractor and manure spreader was traveling westbound on Highway 180 at approximately 40 to 45 mph. A box truck traveling behind it at an estimated 65 to 70 mph rear-ended the tractor, according to the preliminary investigation.

The impact left the box truck driver trapped inside the vehicle. CHP officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel responded, and crews extricated the 30-year-old man. He was airlifted to a hospital with severe injuries to a limb.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. CHP said all occupants were wearing seat belts and that alcohol and drugs were not believed to have been factors in the collision.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
