According to authorities, Sonia M. was walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of 5th Street and North Maclay Avenue around 6:20 p.m. when a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck made a left turn and struck her. The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim lying on the roadway.

Officials said the victim sustained broken bones and other serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Bystanders assisted the woman immediately after the collision.

Family members noted that the suspect’s truck has a utility rack and that a passenger may have been inside the vehicle. Police are asking anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage to contact the San Fernando Police Department.
