A 14-year-old girl was killed, and a pedestrian was injured after a vehicle struck a person and crashed into a tree in San Diego on Sunday morning, May 3, 2026.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. near the 7500 block of Navajo Road in the San Carlos neighborhood.
Authorities stated that a 35-year-old woman driving westbound on Navajo Road struck an 18-year-old pedestrian walking on the sidewalk north of the street. The vehicle did not stop and continued before crashing into a tree in the center median.
The vehicle had four occupants, including the driver, a 1-year-old, an 8-year-old, and a 14-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian suffered a concussion and a severe arm injury, while the driver sustained a fractured ankle. The younger passengers were not injured.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the incident.
