[04-15-2026] Riverside County, CA – Driver Injured in Collision with Semi-Truck in Thousand Palms.webpA motorist sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Thousand Palms, Riverside County, on Wednesday morning, April 15, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Varner Road. 

A semi-truck, traveling at an unconfirmed speed, made a right turn onto Monterey Avenue and crashed into a GMC SUV. The impact caused the semi to catch fire, but Riverside County Fire Department crews quickly extinguished the flames.

The SUV driver, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. The driver of the big rig was unharmed. 

The incident remains under investigation.
