[03-30-2026] Imperial County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on SR-98

A motorcyclist was killed after a three-vehicle crash in Imperial County on Monday evening, March 30, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on State Route 98 west of Interstate 8.

Reports say the driver of a westbound Toyota Highlander veered into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with a BMW K1200 motorcycle.

The impact ejected the rider from the BMW into the path of an Acura RSX traveling westbound. The rider of the BMW succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Toyota and Acura, both properly restrained, sustained minor injuries. The Imperial County Coroner’s Office has taken possession of the deceased, whose identity will be released pending notification of the family.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
