A woman in her 20s was killed in a head-on collision in Fresno County on Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Highway 180 and Old Oak Road.
Authorities said the driver of a Tesla crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Kia Soul nearly head-on. The impact caused the Kia to go down an embankment, and the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are investigating the crash as DUI-related. CHP Sergeant Jarrod Banta stated that drugs are believed to be a factor, and the driver of the Tesla has been placed under arrest.
The Tesla contained one passenger, a woman in her 20s, and two children under 5. All three were taken to a hospital for treatment. The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
