[03-01-2026] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle on Highway 76 in Oceanside

A person was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Highway 76 on foot in Oceanside late Sunday night, March 1, 2026.

According to Oceanside Police, the incident occurred around 11:50 p.m., when the pedestrian attempted to cross from south to north just east of Benet Road. 

A sedan traveling east on the highway struck the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported that the driver of the sedan remained at the scene and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
