A driver was hospitalized after crashing their vehicle off the Martin Luther King Jr. overpass onto Highway 99 in Sacramento on Thursday night, February 19, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office, the crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. when the driver veered off the overpass and onto the northbound 99. The driver suffered only minor injuries.
The vehicle crashed through a fence and landed on the highway, scattering debris into the southbound lanes. Several vehicles struck the debris, but no other injuries were reported.
The CHP said the southbound lanes were blocked briefly, but traffic resumed on both sides around 11 p.m.
The cause of the initial crash remains under investigation.
