According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the crash occurred when an 18-year-old bicyclist was riding west on Dinah Shore Drive. The driver, a senior citizen, attempted to turn from Eagle Canyon Drive into the eastbound lane on Dinah Shore Drive and struck the bicyclist.

The Cathedral City Fire Department’s emergency medical service transported the injured teen to a hospital. Authorities reported that the bicyclist suffered minor injuries.

Commander Jon Enos stated that both the driver and the bicyclist were responsible for the crash, and a police officer would make the final determination following an investigation.
