An 80-year-old man and his dog were killed in a hit-and-run crash on Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks on Tuesday night, January 27, 2026.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision was reported around 11:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue.
Authorities said the man and his dog were crossing Woodman Avenue when they were struck by a northbound vehicle. It was not immediately clear whether the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His dog was found dead beneath a parked vehicle at the scene. The victim was identified by his daughter as Andriy K. Witnesses told investigators they photographed the suspect vehicle after the driver briefly stopped following the crash.
Police later located the suspected Maserati a few blocks away with significant front-end damage. Authorities said both the front and rear license plates had been removed. As of the latest update, the driver has not been located, and no arrests have been made.
The investigation remains ongoing.
