A 29-year-old man died after sustaining critical injuries while removing an oil rig in a field near Mt. Whitney and Polk Avenue in Riverdale, Fresno County, on Monday morning, December 1, 2025.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified around 10:45 a.m. and arrived to find the man deceased.
Investigators learned he was part of a company working to dismantle and remove an oil rig on the property when a large piece of steel swung from the structure and crushed him. The victim has not been officially identified. Cal/OSHA was alerted to the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
