[10-07-2025] Two Killed in Car Crash and Fire on Highway 101 Near Laetitia Vineyard DriveTwo people were killed in a car crash that ignited a fire on northbound Highway 101 near Laetitia Vineyard Drive, south of Arroyo Grande, in San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday afternoon, October 7, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:47 p.m. when a vehicle ran off the roadway into the bushes, causing a vegetation fire that fully involved the car.

Emergency personnel, including medics and the Five Cities Fire Authority, responded to the scene. A tow truck was requested to remove the vehicle from under a tree about 40 feet down an embankment.

Traffic was heavily delayed with only one northbound lane open. CHP confirmed the two fatalities at the scene by 4:00 p.m.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
