[07-12-2024] Male Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by At Least One Vehicle in Santa AnaA male pedestrian was killed after being struck by at least one vehicle in Santa Ana late Friday night, July 12, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian vs. vehicle collision happened at about 11:45 p.m. along the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, east of First Street.

When responding CHP officers arrived, they found the man wearing a plaid jacket down and out along the freeway’s right shoulder. He had died as a result of the incident. A representative from the coroner’s office was said to have been called to the scene around 12:19 a.m.

The name, age, and place of origin of the deceased were not provided. It is still unclear what the man was doing when the incident occurred. As of yet, it is unclear whether he was hit by one vehicle or multiple vehicles.

It is not immediately known if the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene. Currently, authorities are investigating the possible involvement of alcohol, speed, or drugs.

No further information was immediately available, and the CHP is still examining all the evidence found on-scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.
