[09-26-2023] Man Died Following Pedestrian vs. Vehicle Crash in AtascaderoA male pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Atascadero on Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2023.

According to the Atascadero Police Department, the incident occurred at 2 p.m. on El Camino Real, just in front of the Vons shopping center.

The victim was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross from the west side of the road toward the shopping center. He sustained severe injuries and was treated at the scene, but he died on the way to the Sierra Visa Regional Medical Center.

The identities of the victim and driver were not disclosed due to the ongoing investigation and pending notification of the family.

The Highway 41 off-ramp and Highway 101 on-ramp were closed along the southbound lanes of El Camino Real. Authorities advised the public to avoid the area.
