[09-09-2023] Kern County, CA – Juvenile Severely Injured Following Pedestrian vs. Vehicle Crash in Taft

A juvenile pedestrian sustained major injuries after a vehicle collision in Taft on Saturday morning, September 9, 2023.

According to the Taft Police Department, the incident occured at the 100 block of Village Way.

Initial reports indicated that the first collision was an assault. But further investigation determined the victim’s injuries were more likely caused by being dragged.

Authorities stated the victim hid under a parked vehicle to avoid officers patrolling the area. Video footage showed the victim being dragged as the vehicle slowed down.

The driver was reportedly unaware of the victim under the vehicle, and criminal charges were not expected to be filed.

Information regarding the time of the incident and the victim’s condition had not been released by the authorities.
