A woman was fatally struck by a COASTER commuter train in the Bay Park neighborhood of San Diego on Monday afternoon, September 04, 2023.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the fatal collision happened around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Morena Boulevard and Asher Street.
Authorities stated that the victim was given aid but succumbed to her injuries. The woman has yet to be identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office, pending the results of an autopsy conducted by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The authorities are currently investigating the fatal collision and a similar incident that happened on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

The National Safety Council reported that deaths at highway-rail crossings increased by 21% between 2020 and 2021, while deaths involving other accidents increased by 20%. The fatality rate for the latter was 94%, or 617 individuals, all of whom were trespassers.
