An 18-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries in a rollover crash on Interstate 5 near Orland, Glenn County, on Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 6 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 north of County Road 27.
CHP said 18-year-old Ava M. was driving a black Suzuki sedan when she looked down at a navigation app on a cellphone in her lap. Investigators said the vehicle drifted close to another vehicle, prompting the driver to swerve and then lose control.
The Suzuki crossed the center divide, overturned, traveled across the northbound lanes, and eventually came to rest on its wheels along the right shoulder. Both the driver and her passenger, 18-year-old Norah S., were wearing seat belts.
The passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to Enloe Health in Chico for evaluation.
CHP said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
