One person was killed, and three others were injured following a single-vehicle crash near Santa Clarita on Thursday afternoon, August 1, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 10:22 p.m. along Rowher Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.
Authorities stated that an off-road vehicle was found in a dark area down the embankment after it veered off the road and flipped over for unknown reasons. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene to bring the vehicle and its occupants up from the embankment.
Investigation showed that one of the vehicle’s occupants was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, three other people sustained injuries, but their current condition remains undisclosed. The names, ages, and genders of the victims were not immediately available.
It is unknown whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role in the crash. Currently, the cause of the collision is unclear.
