A 63-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Airport Boulevard, Santa Cruz County, on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024.
According to the responding officials, the crash happened around 4:50 a.m. just outside of Watsonville, along Airport Boulevard.
Authorities stated that a 73-year-old man from Aptos was driving a white Tesla Model Y on Airport Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle struck the pedestrian. The victim was reportedly walking on Airport Boulevard before the collision occurred.
The man sustained severe injuries and was transported to Natividad Medical Center for immediate treatment. It is unknown what caused the collision.
No further details were disclosed, and the investigators are gathering all necessary information to determine the cause of the incident.
