A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in East Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, May 7, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 10:57 p.m. near Atlantic and Olympic boulevards.
Authorities stated that the pedestrian was found dead near the location of the collision. The victim’s identity was not immediately released. It is unknown what caused the collision.
Police said they had found the suspect’s vehicle, described as a red Toyota Celica, in a parking lot at the Commerce Casino at 6131 Telegraph Road in Commerce. The hit-and-run driver was arrested by the deputies.
