A 25-year-old driver was killed after being struck by a speeding driver in Hyde Park, Los Angeles, late Tuesday night, April 16, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal collision happened at about 11:15 p.m. around the West Florence Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard intersection.
LAPD said that a black BMW SUV going west on West Florence Avenue ran a red light at an unsafe speed, eventually crashing into a gray sedan at the intersection. The impact of the crash sent the sedan spinning out of control, only stopping about 70 to 80 feet from the initial site of the incident.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the speeding SUV reportedly stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
LAPD confirmed that the reckless driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the accident. However, they are now looking at the possibility that the driver was racing another vehicle prior to it.
The SUV driver was detained in the back of a patrol vehicle. Police work is underway.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation.
The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
