[03-02-2025] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit by Vehicle on I-5 Near Old Town Off-ramp

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle after running onto northbound Interstate 5 near the Old Town off-ramp in San Diego early Sunday morning, March 2, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 1:42 a.m. when the pedestrian entered the roadway and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries. Their identity has not yet been released.

A SigAlert was issued, temporarily closing the No. 4 lane for cleanup and investigation. All lanes have since been reopened.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
