[11-02-2026] Riverside County, CA – One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-10 East of Indio

One man was killed, and another suffered major injuries in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 east of Indio on Monday morning, November 2, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 10, west of Box Canyon Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a 35-year-old man from Austin, Texas, was traveling eastbound in the far right lane when a Ford F-150 Raptor, driven by a 41-year-old Yucaipa man, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The two vehicles collided head-on.

The Chevrolet driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford driver sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision. It remains unclear whether the Ford driver has been arrested or will face charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
