One person was killed, and another sustained injuries after a vehicle crashed into a wall inside a downtown Santa Barbara parking structure on Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2026.
According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, the crash occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. inside the Lot 10 parking structure at Anacapa and Ortega streets.
A white sedan reportedly entered the parking structure from Ortega Street and struck a wall. The vehicle sustained major front-end damage.
Santa Barbara Police Lt. Ryan Dejohn said officers immediately began providing lifesaving medical care to the occupants. Santa Barbara Fire Department personnel and paramedics arrived shortly afterward and continued emergency treatment.
One person, reportedly the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupant was transported by ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Authorities did not immediately release the injured person’s condition or the identity of either occupant.
The Santa Barbara Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
