A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle near the State Route 163 connector to Interstate 8 in San Diego on Monday night, October 5, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred near the freeway underpass in the Mission Valley area.
At around 8:53 p.m., Caltrans reported that all lanes of the connector ramp were blocked due to police activity.
CHP personnel at the scene later reported that a driver struck a pedestrian who was reportedly crossing the freeway near the underpass. The pedestrian was fatally injured.
CHP said the driver remained at the scene and called 911.
