According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 12:29 a.m. on the 605 Freeway just south of the Artesia (91) Freeway.

Video from the scene appeared to show a Cadillac SUV collide with a sedan being towed. The impact sent debris across the roadway, and the tow truck driver was seen moving away from the collision.

CHP officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. One person was confirmed dead following the crash. Authorities did not immediately release the victim’s identity.

The video also showed CHP officers administering a sobriety test to a driver, but authorities did not provide official information indicating whether impairment contributed to the collision.
