A 71-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in North Hollywood on Friday night, October 2, 2026.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred at around 9:35 p.m. near Lankershim Boulevard and Oxnard Street.
Police said a dark red Ford SUV was traveling southbound on Lankershim Boulevard when it struck the woman as she was crossing Oxnard Street outside a crosswalk.
Investigators said the driver made a U-turn after the incident and fled northbound on Lankershim Boulevard without stopping. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the woman’s identity pending notification of her family.
Police continue to search for the driver and investigate the incident.
