[09-27-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Woman Killed, Another Driver Hospitalized in Rear-End Crash in Torrance

A woman was killed, and another driver was hospitalized following a rear-end collision in Torrance on Sunday morning, September 27, 2026.

According to the Torrance Police Department, officers responded shortly after 11:15 a.m. to the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Artesia Boulevard.

Police said both vehicles were traveling northbound on Prairie Avenue when the woman slowed to make a right turn at Artesia Boulevard and was struck from behind by the second vehicle.

The woman suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she later died. Her identity was withheld pending notification of her relatives.

The other driver was also transported to a hospital. Additional information about that driver’s condition was not immediately available, and no arrests had been made.

Authorities said it was not yet known whether drugs, alcohol, speed, or distraction contributed to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
