[09-28-2026] Kern County, CA – Two Injured, Driver Arrested After Suspected DUI Crash on I-5 Near Grapevine

Two people were injured after a vehicle overturned on southbound Interstate 5 near Grapevine Road in Kern County on Monday morning, September 28, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Lexus left the roadway and overturned for reasons that remain unknown.

When CHP officers arrived, they found the Lexus resting on its right side in the center median with two occupants inside.

Kern County Fire Department personnel removed both occupants from the vehicle. Authorities said they sustained minor and moderate injuries. The 35-year-old passenger from San Francisco was transported to Kern Medical.

The 41-year-old driver, also from San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
