[09-21-2026] Santa Barbara County, CA – Driver and Child Taken To Hospital After Rollover Crash on Chapala St.

A driver and a young child were taken to a hospital following a rollover crash in Santa Barbara on Monday evening, September 21, 2026.

According to authorities, officers responded at around 6:15 p.m. to the 1700 block of Chapala Street following a report of a minor-injury rollover collision.

The initial investigation indicated that a vehicle was traveling north on Chapala Street when it struck two vehicles parked along the west side of the street. The impact caused the vehicle to roll onto its side.

Santa Barbara Fire Department personnel helped the driver and the child, who was secured in a car seat, out of the vehicle. Paramedics treated both before transporting them to Cottage Hospital for evaluation.

Authorities identified the driver as 40-year-old Ashley B. of Santa Barbara. Following further investigation, officers determined that the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and arrested her.

Authorities said the driver was expected to be booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI and felony child endangerment. Her bail was set at $100,000.

The investigation remains ongoing.
