[09-11-2026] Santa Cruz County, CA – Bicyclist Killed in Crash With Pickup Truck on Soquel Dr.webpA bicyclist died after a collision with a pickup truck near Soquel High School in Santa Cruz on Friday afternoon, September 11, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 3:46 p.m. on Soquel Drive east of Porter Street.

The CHP said a 41-year-old Santa Cruz man was driving a white 2017 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Soquel Drive as the male bicyclist was riding south of the truck.

The bicyclist suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities did not release his identity.

The pickup truck driver was arrested following the collision. The CHP said alcohol and/or drugs were being investigated as possible factors in the crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
