[09-11-2026] Sacramento County, CA – Passenger Killed, Driver Seriously Injured in Crash on I-80

A passenger was killed, and a driver suffered serious injuries after a car crashed into the center divider on Interstate 80 in Sacramento County early Friday morning, September 11, 2026.

According to California Highway Patrol traffic logs, the crash was reported around 3:30 a.m. on the westbound I-80 just west of Watt Avenue, near the border of Arden Arcade and North Highlands.

CHP incident logs indicated that a blue Honda Civic struck the center divider. The collision was initially reported through an iPhone crash notification, and the driver also called 911.

Emergency personnel arrived and found the vehicle’s passenger dead at the scene. The female driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not yet released the passenger’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
