[09-09-2026] Sacramento County, CA – Woman Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Crash in Capital City

A woman died, and two others suffered serious injuries after a vehicle crashed into a tree on the Capital City Freeway in Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon, September 9, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:16 p.m. on the southbound Capital City Freeway near Watt Avenue.

CHP said the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. Three women inside the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

The driver later died at the hospital. The other two women remained hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities have not released their identities.

Additional information about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway was not immediately available.
