[09-04-2026] Merced County, CA – 70-Year-Old Scooter Rider Killed in Collision With Vehicle Near G and 21st St.

A 70-year-old man riding a scooter was killed after being struck by a medical transportation service vehicle in Merced on Friday afternoon, September 4, 2026.

According to the Merced Police Department, the collision occurred near G and 21st streets.

Police said the scooter rider entered the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation and was struck by the medical transportation vehicle. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

Police said two employees were inside the medical transportation vehicle, which was not responding to a call and was not carrying any patients at the time. The driver remained at the scene.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
