[09-05-2026] San Diego County, CA – 65-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Escondido

A 65-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Escondido late Saturday night, September 5, 2026.

According to the Escondido Police Department, an officer responded shortly before 10:30 p.m. to Escondido Boulevard and West El Norte Parkway following a 911 call.

The officer found the pedestrian gravely injured in the roadway. Paramedics transported him to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of his family.

Investigators determined that the man was struck by a vehicle and that the driver fled the scene following the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
