[08-23-2026] Kern County, CA – Woman Injured After Being Struck By Off-Road Motorcycle in Bakersfield

A woman suffered minor injuries after being struck by an off-road motorcycle while walking on the Kern River Trail in Bakersfield on Sunday evening, August 23, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 6:52 p.m. on the Kern River Trail west of Riverwalk Park.

Police said the woman was walking on the trail when an off-road motorcycle struck her. She sustained minor injuries. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the Kern River Trail, with certain exemptions for Class 1 and Class 2 electric bicycles.

During the investigation, officers located two men riding off-road motorcycles near the South Allen Road undercrossing. Police said the riders initially attempted to evade officers but were later detained after one of the motorcycles became disabled in the riverbed.

Both men were arrested for alleged violations related to the incident, and both motorcycles were impounded. Authorities did not immediately release the identities of the men or specify which rider was suspected of striking the pedestrian.

The Bakersfield Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
