[08-15-2026] San Diego County, CA – At Least Six Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-8

At least six people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 8 in San Diego on Saturday morning, August 15, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 9:56 a.m. on the westbound I-8 near Sports Arena Boulevard.

CHP initially reported five vehicles involved, including a silver Volkswagen Jetta, a white Kia, a black Rivian, and two gray vehicles. Two vehicles sustained heavy damage and blocked the right lane, while three others came to rest along the right side of the freeway.

At least six people were reported injured. Two patients with minor injuries were transported by ambulance to Scripps Mercy Hospital, while two others were taken to UC San Diego Health’s Hillcrest campus. Additional details about the other injured individuals were not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
