[08-17-2026] Orange County, CA – 78-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle in Irvine

A 78-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a pickup truck in Irvine on Monday morning, August 17, 2026.

According to the Irvine Police Department, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Meadowood and Yale Avenue.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a Chevrolet pickup struck the pedestrian while he was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk.

The pedestrian, identified as 78-year-old Irvine resident Jinshui L., was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities did not immediately release information about the driver of the Chevrolet pickup.

The Irvine Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the fatal crash.
