A log truck driver was killed in a collision involving two logging trucks on State Route 70 in Plumas County on Friday morning, August 14, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Quincy Area officers responded at around 8:24 a.m. to State Route 70, approximately three miles west of Rush Creek.
CHP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a loaded log truck was traveling eastbound while an unloaded log truck was traveling westbound. For an unknown reason, the loaded truck crossed the broken yellow line and entered the path of the unloaded truck, resulting in a sideswipe collision.
Following the initial impact, the loaded log truck struck a rock wall, while the unloaded truck collided with a guardrail.
The driver of the loaded log truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not immediately release his identity.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the death investigation in coordination with CHP’s collision investigation. No further details were immediately available.
