One man was killed, and three others were injured after an SUV struck them on the shoulder of Highway 50 in Sacramento late Sunday night, August 16, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 11:35 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50 at 34th Street.
CHP said a vehicle had pulled onto the right shoulder because of a flat tire. Friends of the driver arrived to assist and parked behind the disabled vehicle. An SUV then drifted off the roadway and struck four men.
One man died, another sustained major injuries, and two others suffered minor injuries. The two people with minor injuries did not require transportation to a hospital.
The Sacramento County Coroner identified the man who died as 34-year-old Dionicio F. of Rancho Cordova.
CHP said the SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. DUI is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
