A 40-year-old pedestrian suffered major injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Oxnard early Sunday morning, August 16, 2026.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. at the intersection of Oxnard Boulevard and Ninth Street.
Police said a 65-year-old driver was traveling northbound in a Toyota Camry when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was crossing Oxnard Boulevard from the east sidewalk toward the west sidewalk.
Officers performed lifesaving measures at the scene before paramedics transported the pedestrian to a hospital. He remained in critical condition.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities reported that the driver showed no signs of impairment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
