[08-08-2026] Contra Costa County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed, Two Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-80 in Hercules

A motorcyclist was killed, and two other people suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Hercules, Contra Costa County, on Saturday night, August 8, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80, just west of Sycamore Avenue. 

Authorities said the motorcyclist, a man in his mid-20s from Yuba City, initially collided with a blue Honda CR-V and was ejected from his motorcycle.

The rider was subsequently struck by another vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Nine additional vehicles were then involved in a chain-reaction crash. Two people sustained minor injuries in the subsequent collisions. Authorities have not released the motorcyclist’s identity.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
