An 86-year-old Oceanside man died after an e-bike and vehicle collision in Carlsbad on Friday, July 31, 2026.
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner, emergency personnel responded around 7:49 a.m. to the intersection of Carlsbad Village Drive and Glasgow Drive.
The rider, identified as Jerry R. of Oceanside, was transported to a local hospital following the crash. He was later pronounced dead at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla at 5:26 p.m.
The Medical Examiner determined that Richards died from multiple blunt force injuries and classified his death as an accident.
The Carlsbad Police Department is investigating the collision.
