Two people were killed, and four others suffered major injuries following a collision on Highway 33 south of Maricopa in Kern County on Friday afternoon, July 24, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4 p.m. on Highway 33 near the west end of the lower escape ramp.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, including two air ambulances that transported the most critically injured patients. Three additional ground ambulances transported injured individuals to hospitals in Bakersfield.
The identities of those involved have not been released. The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
