An 81-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Long Beach on Monday morning, July 20, 2026.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision occurred around 8:10 a.m. in the area of Wardlow Road and Lakewood Boulevard.
A 1998 Chevy Van traveling south on Lakewood Boulevard turned left onto East Wardlow Road and collided with a 2024 Ford Bronco, then struck a tree on the south sidewalk.
The van driver, identified as Richard B. of Long Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford Bronco remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Police stated that speed is believed to have been a contributing factor. The investigation is ongoing.
