[07-15-2026] San Bernardino County, CA – One Killed, Two Critically Injured After Vehicle Leaves I-15 Near Kenwood Ave in Cajon Pass (1).webpOne person was killed, and two others sustained critical injuries after a vehicle left southbound Interstate 15 north of Kenwood Avenue in the Cajon Pass, San Bernardino County, on Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 1:53 p.m. CHP officers initially searched the area before locating a 2017 Hyundai Veloster overturned approximately 80 feet down a steep embankment. Smoke was reported coming from the wreckage as first responders arrived.

Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, assisted by CAL FIRE and the San Bernardino National Forest, performed a technical rescue to reach the vehicle’s occupants. 

Two adults were transported with critical injuries to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, one via helicopter and the other using a Stokes basket. A third adult was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased and the conditions of the surviving occupants have not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by CHP.
