[07-15-2026] San Diego County, CA – Woman Killed After Disabled Vehicle is Struck on I-5.webpA woman was killed after being struck by an SUV on Interstate 5 in San Diego early Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1:12 a.m. in the southbound lanes just south of Washington Street.

An 18-year-old woman was driving an Infiniti with a 20-year-old passenger when she lost control and struck the concrete center divider.

Both women exited the disabled vehicle when a black Toyota SUV, driven by a 52-year-old Chula Vista man, struck the Infiniti and the 20-year-old passenger.

The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification to her family.

Authorities reported that alcohol or drugs are not suspected, and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
